Christmas Boutique poster final

As well as the usual shops we supply, this Christmas we are involved in two pop up shops, The Christmas Boutique in Ranelagh, Dublin which is open until this Sunday and the MADE in Kilkenny pop up shop, Rose Inn st. Kilkenny which is open until Christmas Eve, so if you cant make it to our shop in Castlecomer you might be able to find something special in one of the pop up shops.

‘From inspiration to creation’

here is a little insight into how I came up with the bowls that are in

A Makers Journey Exhibition

bells of ireland

My journey began in the garden with a plant I love called ‘bells of Ireland’. I love the simple shape of the foliage. Next I did some sketches of the plant and played around with suggestions of form. Here is my story board…

Then I got stuck into the making proccess which took place in our polly tunnel at home ……….

A TASTE of kilkenny

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

This week saw the launch of ’ TASTE of Kilkenny Food Trail’, the latest group in  ‘Trail Kilkenny’ and what an addition it is. We got to sample lots of tasty treats at the launch on Monday, all produced and cooked in the county. We are very lucky in Kilkenny to have such great local producers and top class restaurants and cafes. I am doing my best to grow my own or buy local (I will post some photos of my new hen house when the Lady’s arrive), so this week  Lavistown Sausage and bean casserole, was on our  menu finished off by the nicest chocolate  ice cream ever Creamers Grove. Just two of the producers from the trail with another 36 to go……

Hot from the kiln………check out my brand new ‘Buttermilk range’ of everyday tableware here. Its a soft white glaze with a slight mother of pearl tinge, the shapes are both contemporary and nostalgic. I have lived with it for the past 12 months or so and I am so  happy with the shapes and the glaze, I love it and its great mixed in with my trade mark powder blue glaze.

Autumn is my favorite season, the food, the colours, the crisp days and long nights. I’ve had great fun carving pumpkins, collecting leaves and making the shop look seasonal………

More from Baurnafea

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

This post has taken forever to finish, just because of all the crazyness around here……..

I love the easy way everything sits together in this house, Klaus and Heikes personalities really come through, theres a relaxed, easy, homely feel to everything inside and out, what more could you want from your house? The beautiful hand painted tiles are from The Bridge Pottery.

I know all the potters out there will wish they possessed such skill when it comes to building kilns, come to think of it I guess skills of this sort would come in handy in lots of everyday jobs…………

Ceramics Art London

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

What a great weekend. It was an inspiration as a maker to see such beautiful work, it really was a selection of the best talent in Britain and Ireland at the moment. Hope to see more Irish makers represented next year, so get on it and apply to show.
